News from York Open Studios

York Textile Artists would like to say Thank you to the York Open Studios community.

Four members of the group exhibited their work over the two weekends in mid-April of

York Open Studios 2023.

Angela Anning was based in Dringhouses, Fran Brammer in Acomb, Linda Harvey in Elvington and Jo Yeates in Southlands on Bishopthorpe Road. Our work is quite distinctive. Angela works with cottons, fine silks and wools to create artwork, jewellery, scarves and lampshades. Fran specialises in freehand machine embroidery to create landscapes and of course her incorrigible Tatty Mice. Linda uses a range of innovative techniques to create fascinating abstract textile art. Jo uses reclaimed and repurposed materials drawing on Mono printing, stitching, tearing, fraying and layering techniques to create seascapes, landscapes and abstract artwork.

What unites us as members of York Textile Artists is a passion for creating textiles. For the four of us, sharing this passion with the visitors who came to see where and hear how we worked over the two weekends was extremely rewarding. We would like to thank every one of you for taking time out to come and share in our work.
