Greetings and welcome to THE HOLIDAY SEASON,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I did, and once again cooked too much, worked too har,d and took a couple of days to recover.
Now, we are rushing into the Christmas season. Oh, the magic of Christmas. I love decorating and waking up with all the Christmas lights. It takes days to decorate and one day to take it all down. This is the month we nestle into more family traditions. We overspend, overeat, overdo, in everything. We are busy, busy, busy, with the hustle and bustle.
Let’s take a step back this season and relax and enjoy each other. Be a little nicer to one another. We have no idea what another person is going through in their life. Let’s remember that we are celebrating the birth of Christ. That is the reason for this season.
Last month I talked about renewing your membership. If you have sent in your membership or paid your membership in person, please stop at the post, and pick up your membership card. If you want it mailed to you, please reach out to our membership Chairman Beth Olive and she can get that out to you.
We had 7 ALA members attend the Fall Conference in Oro Valley. Mark your calendar for the State Conference June 22-25 again in Oro Valley. State Convention is a great time to learn more things about ALA, as well as meet new people with the same purpose, our Veterans
We had a great Veterans Day event with some great food from our members as always.
Baskets were delivered to the community by our community Chair Jean Ellison just in time for Thanksgiving.
Our last bake sale of 2022 will be Dec 2. So, bring your goodies to the Post so we can raise funds for the ALA programs
We have a few POW/MIA bracelets left if you would like to purchase one, they are $15.
We are collecting Holiday Cards till Dec 4, for our Arizona State Home for Veterans. We have a box at the post for these. Our goal is 300 any extras will go to our military.
We will be delivering our Pjs to the Phoenix, Arizona State Home on Dec 5 and hope to take cards as well.
December 10 we will participate with Peoria Shop with a Cop where needy Children shop. This is a fantastic program and the various families of the post, ALA, ALR Leg and Son’s will all be there.
Dec 20 is our general meeting. We will have a brief meeting. We are going to have one very important discussion on membership dues. We will have finger foods there and then dismiss and have a white elephant exchange if you would like to participate.
Dec 21 our auxiliary dinner will be from 5-7. Come join us for some yummy food. And sing a song or two with Cowboy Ken.
Our January meeting will be joint meeting again to hear from Mission 22 which is a group that brings suicide awareness for our military to light. They have free programs available. https://mission22.com/
We continue to make updates on our website so be sure to check it often. https://www.azalaunit62.org/
Again, we thank you for your continued support for our Unit, and our Post Family. We are here for you. If you have suggestions or want to get involved. Please come to our monthly meetings held the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6pm. Here you can learn more about our different programs and how you can support them. We also have a suggestion folder in the Auxiliary box beside our door. We love to hear from you.
Again, have a very Merry Christmas, don’t overdo, just enjoy the gifts that we already have. The greatest gift of all….. Jesus.
Sincerely,
Kathy Amery
