At Poilâne, we cannot wait for the 2021 edition of the Nicola Werner Challenge, our 5th time participating in this unique ride.
What started as a nutritional & culinary challenge for us, has become an object of pride: feeding cyclists to power their ride with our breads, biscuits and pâtisseries boulangères.
Not least of which, celebrating your success at the finish line together, with the edible medals!
At my family’s bakery, we believe quality ingredients and savoir-faire are key in baking nutritious goods that will feed both your body and soul.
What is more is that when you share those breads, you make copains, from the latin cum panis - friends with whom you share bread, and thus life.
Since the Nicola Werner Challenge’s 3rd edition, we have learned how to devise food stops that are both delicious and nutritious to go further together. Drawing on our expertise of grains, we’ve baked breakfasts, lunches and snacks to be cyclists’ companions on their 200Km ride.
This year, we will be sharing breakfast with our fellow long-distance riders, and biscuit medals riders worldwide.
Raising awareness and funds in the fight against HPV-caused cancers is a reminder that nutrition, by way of quality foods, is a daily contribution we make to our good health.
Our breads, pastries and biscuits are hand-made because we believe in the intelligence of the human hand to perfect the gestures that will make for the best energy for a perfectly risen loaf, or the optimal apple tart fold.
Our wood-fired brick ovens provide the dry heat that will bake thoroughly our confections to make them more digestible and keep longer too.
In turn, in our 5 bakeries in Paris and London, as well as through our retailers, we aspire to feed our communities. On September 11th, we look forward to nurture your ride!
