Bringing Hope to the Hopeless...

July 2020

Hello Family and Friends!

Here another edition of our tales and adventures from Fort Payne, AL……

We are finally, completely moved up here, and our house has sold in Foley! God’s timing is so very perfect… We are amazed to sit back and watch Him work. As you know, we have been back and forth from here to there, and it has honestly been a bit arduous to say the least. However, we are ready to move on to the great adventure that awaits us here! Our ministry here so far has been phone counseling and discipleship, with appointments along the way that God has set up for us at our house and in the community. Also, as we go out now there always seems to be someone He puts before us that needs some encouragement, direction and a word from Jesus.

So, with that said, our heart’s purpose now is to intentionally go out and make new relationships and to plant seeds in those who God puts before us. Some know Jesus, some are far away from Jesus, and some just aren’t quite all the way “there” yet. So that’s what we’ve been doing. As you know, a big part of our ministry was to go into the jails and prisons and rehabs, and do one on one counseling. Since all of those places are still closed to visitors, we’ve been seeking out the coffee shops and parks, (at least the ones that are open), the thrift stores, and welcoming some workers into our own front door!

My favorite story was at a coffee shop the other day, where I went to do some computer work. 3 young girls came up and sat down around me and just started chatting with me.  I guess I looked old enough to know something…LOL…because they started asking me all kinds of surprising questions, all the while giggling and looking at each other. And then I asked them if they knew Jesus and all of them just stopped and looked at me, and then blurted out that they had all been baptized last year. Then THAT opened the door to a lot of things to talk about! I thought they were probably around 16 or 17 years old. But no, they were only 12!!! Oh..my..word!!! They had been talking all about boys and race issues and grandma’s, and now we got to talk about what it meant to follow Jesus! Wow it was fun to point them to what God says about those things!!!! Then after that I came upon a homeless man in the park... I felt really moved by the Spirit to go to him and talk to him. I saw something in him that needed probing. It was safe. There were others around. I told him I was led to ask him about Jesus. He just looked at me and teared up. He told me a long and sordid story about his sins, his running from God for so long, and the dark spiritual battle that he was in right then. We talked and prayed. I left him as he was pondering what his life could be like again if he would just trust Jesus more than the lies that the enemy had put into his head. Needless to say, it ended up being a truly divine appointment for us both. God is so very faithful to those He is calling! So, we now have new friends as painters, a plumber, handyman, carpenter, gutter installer, homeless man, doctor and 3 young girls, who all filled our days with some frustration, but at the end, a lot of joy! 😊

As we celebrate our Independence Day, let us never forget WHY many died fighting for our freedom. It was so we could worship our God as we pleased!! Lord have mercy on this country…Now we all need to rise up and go tell others about Jesus!!

To Him be the glory! Thanks again for loving us!

Blessings, Ken and Cindy
