ONLY 10 MORE HOMES AVAILABLE |
|
|
17 homes are spoken for by our community of 14 committed households - some of them multigenerational with people ranging in age from 2 to 83. With several more explorer households in our ranks, we will soon need to start wait lists for our smaller homes, but have several 3 and 4 bedroom homes available - ideal for families with children. |

Five of our community members attended the National Cohousing Conference 2019 the first weekend of June in Portland, OR. We were able to tour numerous cohousing communities in Portland and were inspired by what's possible and brought home a list of do's and don'ts. We attended intensives and sessions on the development process, common house design, conflict resolution, cohousing outreach, affordability & diversity and collected a toolbox of knowledge from pioneers in the cohousing field such as Jim Leach, Katie McCamant and Grace Kim. It was inspiring to mingle with cohousers from seven different countries and the sense of community permeated even the stark hotel conference venue. |

As the keynote for the 2019 National Cohousing Conference in Portland, Oregon, Courtney E. Martin author of "The New Better Off: Reinventing the American Dream" draws from her personal experience living in cohousing with her family. She offers three forms of sacred abundance that you find while living in community. NOTE: the talk begins with Courtney reading the book Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett. |

People living in cohousing have private homes, but also share a lot of common space and resources. The way things are physically and socially designed creates the support system and sense of connection found in traditional villages. Growing up in cohousing offers so many great opportunities for kids: - Children are valued participants in a multi-generation village.
- Cohousing provides a safe environment to play and explore. Cars are kept at the periphery.
- Children can gain confidence by having freedom of movement within the neighborhood.
- Other kids of all different ages are around to plan and learn to look out for each other.
- Play dates don't require planning or driving. Social life in cohousing is built in.
- Children can form valuable relationships with people of all ages.
- Children can gain skills from trusted adults with different interests and skills.
- Kids can grow up in a culture that emphasizes inclusion and treating people with respect.
- An endless stream of hand-me-downs from older kids in the community: clothes, toys, bikes...
- A shared library of high-quality books and games to play.
