Street Named After Business OwnerWalter Turner Street |
The Board of Alderman of the Town of Sturgis has voted to approve and is pleased to announce that a new street will be named after a beloved member of our community, Walter Turner. The street will be named Walter Turner Street and is located between N. Park Street and Williamson Street directly behind the the stores and running east to west. This will be a county maintained street. Let it be known to all that we, the people of this community, do hereby recognize and honor the contributions of a great man who served our town with distinction and honor. Walter Turner, who served as Alderman and later as Mayor from 2008 to 2017, devoted his life to the betterment of our town. In recognition of Walter Turner's service to our town, it is fitting that we name a street after him. This will be a constant reminder of the values and principles he upheld and a testament to his dedication to our community not only by serving as alderman and mayor, but also as a longtime business leader in our town. We hereby proclaim the naming of this street in honor of Walter Turner and encourage all citizens to join us in celebrating his legacy and the positive impact he has on our town. |

Fun Fact: The word “y’all” dates back to at least 1631.
