Annual Chalk Art Event!

On Saturday, March 23, the Arts Foundation will host its annual Chalk Art Contest, as part of the City's Spring Celebration.  We'll be at the Donaldson Elementary School Parking Lot, in the same spot as last year.

A big change this year is we are doing away with judging the event--now it's just a fun thing to do, while you're waiting for the Egg Hunt!  This will also reduce some of the delays signing in.  We still plan to have a small toy for the kids that participate.

We encourage families bring their children to this Fun and Free event!

The deadline to enter is fast approaching!  Download the Call For Art for our annual Art Extravaganza.  The deadline to apply is Friday, March 15 (but it's ok if you get it to us by Sunday, March 17--we start working on the entries on Monday!)

The juried art show will be held at SpringHill Suites at the Napa County Airport, April 5-7. The artist reception will be Saturday, April 6, from 5:30-7:30pm. Come early for the silent auction!

The Big Reveal:

Community Mosaic Art Project

After reviewing over 30 entries, we narrowed it down to six.  Then we passed those final artists to our community partners and further narrowed it down to three and then to the final artistic concept.

The winning artist will be announced next week.

The artwork will be used as inspiration for the actual mosaic.  We are working with Nimbus Arts to make sure the project is something "Community Artists" can handle!

Now that the design is nearing completion, we will begin scheduling sessions to get groups of community members to work on piecing the artwork together. We'll partner with community events, such as Earth Day or Fourth of July, as well as regular dates and times to do nothing else but mosaic art!

We raised $15,000 towards the project, and we are still working with individuals and community groups to get us to our new goal of $20,000!  Recently, the American Canyon Community Parks Foundation and the City of American Canyon each contributed $2000 towards the project.  We are still accepting sponsors and donations.   Any contributions over $500 will be recognized at the site.
