My husband and I recently survived buying our first home after renting in Los Angeles and then Montreal for 20 years.

 

We hadn’t planned to buy, but we did prepare. So when our second rented home was repossessed by the owners, we were ready to change the game, leave behind our title as tenants, and take on homeownership.

 

For a second summer in a row, we put work and life on pause to find our family a new home. My latest story shares what I wish I had known when we started the process.
