Dear Sarasota County Community Members,

 

We are pleased to welcome you as subscribers to the Sarasota County Resilient SRQ Program newsletter. Your commitment to supporting the recovery and resilience of our community is greatly appreciated.

 

Sarasota County is a direct recipient of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR). The county has been awarded $201.5 million in funding to address unmet needs resulting from the impacts of Hurricane Ian. Resilient SRQ will administer these funds, particularly focusing on supporting low-to-moderate-income (LMI) households.

 

Resilient SRQ programs include:

 

Infrastructure and Public Entities: $45 million is allocated for Sarasota County public entities and nonprofit organizations. Applications opened on Feb. 5, 2024, and closed on March 18, 2024. Project selection will take place on May 22, 2024, at the Sarasota County Commission meeting at 1660 Ringling Blvd.

 

Multifamily Affordable Housing: $40 million is allocated to stabilize affordable housing stock and mitigate housing disruptions in the event of future disasters. Applications opened on March 20, 2024, and will close on May 1, 2024, at 5 p.m. EST.

 

Housing Recovery (Coming Soon): $55 million is allocated to provide decent, safe, and sanitary housing for residents affected by Hurricane Ian. This includes the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and homeowner reimbursement for eligible applicants. More information will be announced soon, including the application dates and eligibility criteria.

 

Economic Recovery (Coming Soon): $15 million is allocated for career training in construction trades. Resilient SRQ staff will be presenting additional information on this program to the Sarasota County Commission on April 23, 2024, at1660 Ringling Blvd.

 

Voluntary Buyout (Coming Soon): The Voluntary Home Buyout Program targets low-to-moderate-income (LMI) homeowners in repetitive loss areas. More information on this program will be announced soon.
