Nik McKiernan joins the Ska Train! |
Ska Train are one step beyond excited to announce that we are now a 7-piece band, as we welcome a fantastic new addition to our permanent line-up; the amazing Nik McKiernan on trombone! Nik climbed aboard the Ska Train in October 2023 and we have been keeping her under wraps until now, but from November onwards she will be lining up with us on stage. |
Nik has been tromboning all her life and is a massive ska fan, but has never been able to combine these two passions before so she is doubly excited to be in the band and is, of course, an absolute natural. |
And if you're thinking she looks familiar, you could well be right - when not on stage with Ska Train, Nik can be found working as a Tour Guide at the awesome Coventry Music Museum at the 2-Tone Village. |
Make a note of our upcoming live dates (keep reading) so you can come along and see for yourself how Nik and the fabulous Bill Gibbon will be taking our horn section to the next level. |

Ska Train with Jon Read from The Specials... |
Now then, we don't want to give you too much (too young) excitement in one newsletter, but we can officially announce that next March we will be truly honoured to be playing a one-off gig where we will be joined on stage by the one and only Jon Read from the Specials. We know, right?! The actual Jon Read from the actual Specials! The date will be Sunday March 3rd 2024 at Temperance, the legendary intimate basement venue in Leamington Spa. A strictly limited supply of tickets will be on sale soon direct from the venue, but you might want to start forming a queue now. More details to follow soon. |
Speaking of Temperance, check out these highlights from our sold-out gig there last month! What a fantastic audience, all dancing their socks off and singing their hearts out from start to finish, it was madness! It really is an amazing venue, and we just can't wait to return next year. |
And just in case you missed it, in September we made our full set debut in fantastic style at the 2-Tone Village in Coventry, the birthplace of 2-Tone music. What an amazing show it was, with venue regulars and newcomers alike skanking, singing and sharing the 2-Tone love! Huge thanks to Suky from The Village for inviting us to make our first show such a memorable one at such an iconic venue. We'll definitely be back next year, just watch this space for details. |

Choose a Song to add to our set list! |
At Ska Train we pride ourselves on our unique and special brew of song choices, which include ska favourites from the UK 2-Tone era alongside some fabulous Jamaican ska originals. But we also love a curve-ball song choice, something more obscure, or maybe even a non-ska classic tune that gets the Ska Train treatment and will delight our audiences. |
