REGENERATIVE FARMING NOTES |

Worm Farm, by Megan Widle, Regenerative Farming Intern Working at City Farm has allowed me to gain a greater understanding of how compost is made. At the Worm Farm, we add in organic material rich in nitrogen and carbon at the top to feed the worms inside. After being processed, the vermicompost, or worm castings, can then be harvested from the bottom. This continuous process results in nutrient dense fertilizer that can be used to fuel growth around the farm. It’s been great to see this system in practice and even modify it for my own personal garden! |

Maddie Moore, Regenerative Farming Intern Maddie is currently completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business with a minor in Sustainable Agriculture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She decided to pursue a career in Agriculture because she is inspired to shift the framework of traditional agriculture and promote sustainable and regenerative ways to grow food. In her free time, Maddie enjoys cooking with the fresh produce from City Farm, hiking in nature, and creating art. She is excited to be a part of City Farm SLO’s team and grateful to be directly empowering community livelihood through regenerative farming. Thanks for working with us, Maddie! |
