We welcome Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island into our rotation of venues. There was so much tragedy within the massive walls of this structure and the spirits have been very eager to let us know that they are there. Group Paranormal Investigation

We are part of the Halloween Weekend at the Haunted Hall at Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum. From Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31, the decorated mansion will host so many exciting events for Halloween. 

Join us as we explore the beautiful and haunted Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum for an exciting group paranormal investigation! The evening begins with a discussion of the history of the location and then it is "lights out" as we communicate with the spirits who still call this historic location home. 

The cost of the event is $38 per person. $20 for students 12-18 years old and 18-23 years old, with student ID. All of the ticket proceeds for this event benefit the restoration and preservation of Ventfort Hall Mansion. This event, like all our events, is family-friendly!

Group Paranormal Investigation

Our first group paranormal investigation event at the historic and haunted Fort Adams in Newport, Rhode Island has been scheduled! The fort is massive - with fourteen acres to explore - including haunted underground tunnels! Don't miss this exciting event. Please bring the appropriate weather gear for this event as we will be walking outdoors to the various indoor areas of the fort to explore. A warming station will be set up for this event in case of cold weather.

INVESTIGATION RECAP

Ventfort Hall - September 24, 2021

Well, the spirits at Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum were largely uncooperative on September 24. They are not paid performers and we rely on the cooperation of spirits, so they are the ones in charge - not us. But, we have never left Ventfort without interesting evidence and experiences, and this date is no exception.

During our investigation in May of this year, the spirits were draining the energy of everyone's equipment and caused major problems with equipment. They even had the nerve to laugh at us twice when they made most equipment inoperable. Well, on September 24, I believe their interference kicked in early. During the start of my presentation, I could not change the slides from the podium, even though brand new batteries were installed in the remote mouse and I tested the setup prior without any issues. So, I had to sit on the floor amongst the guests to manually operate the slide show. I believe they were showing me who's boss. 

Mrs. Morgan's room was uncharacteristically quiet. However, there was a spirit in the nursery that was timid. I had felt a cold spot that remained by my side for most of our time there. I believe it was the little girl and she did follow us into Mr. Morgan's room for the next group.

As usual, it was Mr. Morgan's room that proved to be the show stopper. At one point, I felt an energy pass through me multiple times. The energy stopped near some of our guests and moved on again. I was able to find the energy though and stood in the area in which it remained. I started to feel really anxious and felt my heart rate jump. Other guests stood in the area and had the same reaction. There was a powerful energy present with us.

The spirits were showing their evasiveness that night, during our Estes Method session, a guest had repeated several times, "It's me" when we asked who was with us.  That's so helpful! (sarcasm) The Estes Method is when someone places noise-cancelling headphones on and repeat what they hear through the spirit box. The headphones prevent them from hearing what questions were asked.  We did have a number of responses on the Phasmabox, spirit boxes and through the Portal. We are analyzing the data to determine what responses we had. 

The dining room gave me the greatest surprise of the night. When I had asked the spirits to start turning off the lightbulbs one by one (as they had many times before), a frustrated male voice said "I'm tired of this shit." Well, its very difficult to leave me speechless, but I had to process that for a minute or two until I asked if I heard that correctly. Well, I heard it right, and we all had a great laugh over that frank response. I gently reminded Mr. Cranky Pants that he could do whatever he wanted to let us know that he was there, we weren't forcing him to turn off the lights. 

But a group on the first floor was able to hear a disembodied male voice early in the evening. Hopefully we have that recorded to determine what was said. Perhaps it was Mr. Cranky Pants letting that group know not to ask about those lights. 

Even though the spirits were largely timid and uncooperative that night, we still made the best of it and had a great time exploring the haunted Ventfort Hall mansion. It's always a pleasure to meet new people and see familiar faces. 

We return to Ventfort Hall on Saturday, October 30. 

WALKING AMONGST THE SHADOWS

As our first group paranormal investigation at Fort Adams is on the docket, this month's story is a tease of what we may experience when we explore Fort Adams on November 6. 

Fort Adams - Newport, Rhode Island 

We visited the fort in June of 2020. As we were located near the former bakery, I heard a noise coming from the bakery that was behind me. Not only did I hear it, but I also recorded it on a digital recorder. I turned my attention to the former bakery and took photographs with our thermal imaging camera. I didn't see it at the time, but the photograph I took included what appears to be the face and shoulders of someone we could not see with our own eyes. I had a surprise waiting for me when I reviewed those photos later that evening. 

Shortly after that, in the next space, I had seen a shadow figure move from the my left to the right. I could not believe what I had just seen, but the was not the last shadow figure that was seen that day. 

Later that day, I was looking in the window in the area that had been the officer's quarters. In a doorway I saw another shadow figure moving from my left to the right. I was the only one to see this and joined the rest of the group and did not mention what I had seen. About twenty minutes later I saw my oldest daughter Amber looking in the window that I looked in previously. I walked up to her to tell her what I had seen, but I noticed she had a puzzled look on her face. She told me that she thought she seen a figure. I said "Get out!" I then asked her where she seen it and she pointed at the same exact spot that I had seen one minutes before. I told her that I saw something move from the left to the right and she exclaimed that she had seen the exact same thing.  

We had interesting audio clips. A woman, when asked if she was okay, responded "I lost something." When I called out to a murder victim, there was a directive for us to "talk a little over there." No suprise, but we recorded the word "military" several times. We didn't bring a lot of equipment, but were surprised by what we did record. We look forward to a full-scale investigation here on November 6 and hope you can join us at the fort!
