the brisbane dialogues presentS

IN COLLABORATION WITH THE QUEENSLAND ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

A BIG DIALOGUE:

CLIMATE CHANGE - WHAT CAN WE AGREE ON?

Mon 26 Jul, 6pm for 7-8.30pm, The Tivoli, Brisbane

The Hon John Anderson AO, highly-respected former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, will moderate the discussion.

As can be seen in the 45-second video from our launch event last year, John's central concern about the quality of policy discussion resonates deeply with The Brisbane Dialogues' mission. It is also the major theme in his own extensive public communications in recent years, through the Conversations with John Anderson YouTube channel and podcast. We are extremely fortunate to have John's participation and are grateful for it.

Climate change or climate crisis - global warming or global heating - climate catastrophe or catastrophisation? We can’t even agree what to call it, let alone the science or politics.

So the dialogue will be framed along the lines of:

We may never agree on much about climate change - exact nature, causes, severity, urgency - but what might we agree to do about it in terms of practical policies and grassroots measures, e.g. on energy alternatives, public technology investment, private sector decarbonisation, adaptation, conservation, development assistance?
