Tip o' the Week

for Your International Teaching Job Search

Your CV: Professional Development Part of your resume should be dedicated to your professional learning over the years. You want to demonstrate your dedication to your career as a lifelong learner by showcasing the professional training you've received. In some cases, you may have even presented at conferences or given in-house workshops to fellow colleagues. All of this information is incredibly important to highlight in your CV!

Some Dos and Don'ts for listing your Professional Development in your CV:

  • DO separate when you were a "Presenter" and when you were a "Participant";

  • DO use dates and places where you received the training (ex. Dec 2020 - Online);

  • DO list your professional learning in order of most recent (top) to oldest (bottom);

  • DO state the name of the conference or workshop (ex. IB MYP Category 2);

  • DON'T list every single workshop you've attended if you have more than 10 - prioritize the ones that are most relevant and recent for the position you're seeking;

  • DON'T describe each workshop or conference - use only the titles, places and dates; and

  • DON'T forget to include any certifications you've received (ex. First Aid training, B1 Language Exam passed).
