Led by Heidi Campbell, with her husband Troy Shepherd, the group meets monthly on Wednesdays at 7-8 p.m. Next meeting: April 17.

Chanting the Psalms & Contemplative Sit

Setting the Spiritual Woman Free

UPDATE - This retreat has been rescheduled to Sept. 14 due to a family situation for the presenter. We will reopen registration later in the summer.

An exploration of the spirit-fed source of strong women will be the theme of a retreat May 4, 9-Noon. Led by Dr. Vivian Dawkins, a spiritual director from Spring, the event will explore ways to discover the links we have to all the Mary's in the bible, and all the Martha's in our world. Participants will reflect on their strengths as women of God, Dawkins said.

IN THE NEWS

THE BATTALION

The monastery presents itself spiritually as humbly as it does physically. Taking its name from the ancient phrase "via media," it is a picture of moderation between the "high" and "low" churches of the area

THE EAGLE

“My experience of church is churches are built for extroverts. It’s harder to find those quiet moments in a church’s life. … A place dedicated toward spirituality, meditation, contemplation, I think is necessary.”

KBTX

On Friday evening, the Middleway Urban Monastery offered people the opportunity to walk for peace, as a form of experiential prayer, for the situation in Ukraine and other parts of the world in chaos.
