While many theatre companies offer back-to-back theatre camps throughout the summer, over illuminate's 12 years it has been a season to slow down and rebuild for the upcoming season. Our summer offerings have always been weeklong workshops culminating in a show, with June focused on Shakespeare. We have another weeklong workshop approaching this month and we can't wait. Alumni Miriam Belli and Blayze Malmberg are working together to produce Scenes and Songs from "The Sound of Music" while Miss Jen will be directing the younger kids in "The Adventures of Stuart Little." Read more about these workshops below. In the meantime, we are busy planning for the year and dreaming up all the opportunities we can offer our community as we expand our programming.

July Workshops were a Wonder!
Two weeks ago, a cast of 20 talented students were led by two hard working illuminate alumni (Miriam+Blayze!) to produce "Scenes+Songs of 'The Sound of Music'" in one week. The production was completely sold out and the audience reported that it was instantly one of their favorites. Video selections will be available on our socials in the coming weeks! One of the reasons why this week-long workshop was such a success was due to our robust intern program. Miriam+Blayze have interned and taught at illuminate since they were 14, and as alumni, they were fully capable of running such a successful production. A week later, six of our alumni performed "Scenes+Songs from 'You're a Good Man Charlie Brown'" as a benefit show for the Union Theatre Revival Campaign. They raised over $500! With only 3 rehearsals and a team that put together the show in a gym, illuminate's creativity + collaboration was on full display: shining bright. Videos to come on socials!
