Hello Friends!
Mother's Day is a time of joy and appreciation, marked by thoughtful gestures and cherished moments shared with family and friends. However, sometimes the day can carry a heavy weight as the uncertainty of life with a brain tumor can overshadow the joy.
Whether it's the memories of receiving the news of a brain tumor diagnosis on this special day, carrying the weight of the diagnosis and choosing not to share it with children or family, or managing the battle with unwelcomed symptoms and deficits while striving to maintain the role of the "mom you always were," it can all be very painful. When mothers find themselves engulfed by neuro-fatigue, excessive exhaustion, and life changes that feel unfamiliar, the array of emotions that a day like Mother's Day can evoke may feel overwhelming.
As Mother's Day approaches, finding solace in your strength thus far and resilience to be right where you are is paramount. Cherish every moment, recognizing the profound significance of the time you have left to experience the things you love. Amidst any darkness or uncertainty, the light, love, comfort, and bond between a child and their mother remain invaluable.
May Gray Brain Tumor Awareness Month is a perfect time to share your story and express your feelings. At the end of this newsletter, there are some Mother's Day themed social media posts that you may want to share. Many of you in my BTCompanion community are mothers, and I write this note with you in mind. I appreciate all you do and all you can't do. I see your daily effort, hear your concern, feel your worry, and celebrate your wins and joys. Sending hugs and love your way on your special day.
XO,
Angel
