Meet Our Neighbors

This is Cheryl and her three daughters. They are one of the many families we get to share this space with. The girls recently joined their mom in their apartment on the Our Place Campus after spending some time in foster care.

Cheryl's family helped us to harvest the first crops of the season. Together, we harvested kale and collard greens, which they took home and prepared for dinner. We are incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to build this garden in their backyard!

Garden Updates

  • We completed our first harvest! Volunteers harvested 12 pounds of greens- all of which was distributed directly to our campus neighbors and residents of the Crossroads Reno program.
  • The crop fields are under development. We completed the field raking and are in need of assistance removing boulders from the field. Please contact our team if you have the time and equipment to help us get the job done!
  • Volunteers logged 106 hours of service in support of our mission during the month of May. Volunteer time contributed to planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, and removing rocks from the crop fields.
  • We used leftover materials from the raised beds on the Our Place Campus to construct additional garden beds at our garden on the Saint Mary's Campus, which will increase our growing capacity.

Help Us Raise $2,500

Soulful Seeds was selected as a non-profit partner for Jack Johnson’s 2022 tour! Each year, Jack Johnson chooses several local non-profit partners to feature on the green during each night of his tour to promote positive and lasting community change. We were selected as his non-profit partner for the September 4 and 5 tour dates at Harvey’s in Tahoe. Being a selected partner means you can find us promoting our mission at his concert. It also comes with an opportunity to raise $2,500, which the Johnson Ohana Foundation will match dollar for dollar. We are asking you to help us raise $2,500 over the next several months. You can donate here and note "JJ Matching" to double each dollar of your contribution.
