FALL IS THE TIME FOR FESTIVALS |
I've been out these last two weeks visiting friends and family in the south and midwest. However, I did host a screening of the film in my hometown of Jefferson City, Missouri (read more about that below). Also during these last two weeks the 93rd Bomb Group and I have been reviewing "official selection" emails from film festivals. I have plans to attend most of the screenings this fall. |

It has been great to connect with people at our museum screenings these last few months. Most of the people attending these "event screenings" have had a connection to the war in someway - either through family or they are a veteran themselves. At festivals you get to connect with a different kind of crowd. |

I attended two different film schools in Central Florida. One of my professors always encouraged his class to go to as many film festivals as possible. My first big festival was the Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival. Myself and a group of friends from the film program went using some student passes we got. Those passes ended up being our ticket to unlimited film screenings throughout the four day event and also got us into all the after parties (sneaked my way up to Ashley Judd who was in her first feature Ruby In Paradise - grabbed a cocktail from the bar and we talked for an hour). We just kept flashing our badge and walking right into all the venues. Behold, the power of a student pass! My goal with Return To Hardwick is to get the project in front of my fellow filmmakers and hopefully bring the 93rd's story to their attention. The 93rd Bomb Group and it's members have come a long way in producing this documentary. We owe it to the men and women that served in the 93rd and the generations of family members who devoted their time and effort to support the story of this accomplished group. "TALKS ON DOCS" INTERVIEW WITH DIRECTOR MICHAEL SELLERS Director Michael Sellers was interviewed by the producers of the podcast "Talks on Docs". Sturdy, Sean and HB hit Michael up for some in-depth facts and figures on the making of Return To Hardwick. They themselves are Iraq and Afghanistan veterans which made us even more proud that they took notice of the film. Take a listen or read the transcript by clicking below! |

HOMETOWN SCREENING It was an honor to screen Return To Hardwick in my hometown of Jefferson City, Missouri. Being a military brat, I moved around a lot. My father served 10 years in the Army and 13 years in the Coast Guard as a pilot. However, my mom grew up in Jefferson City and when my father retired from the military they moved to Jeff to stay. |

In honor of my grandfather we setup a display for people to view. John L Sullivan - Bombardier & Navigator / 93rd Bomb Group, 330th Sq. My grandfather is accepting the French Legion award in the left frame. |

A registration link went out to my family weeks before the screening and then we opened it up to other interested people in town. Overall we had about 130 people show up at Capital 8 Theaters - the large muli-plex cinema next to the Capital Mall. |
My grandmother Bee Sullivan attended the screening. We both were thinking about gramps that day. |
Also in the theater were two veterans, John "Pete" Adkins was a signalman in the Marshall Islands and Wilburn Rowden flew in B-17s over Europe. Check out more details about these amazing guys at the links below. We were very happy they got a chance to see the film. |

RETURN TO HARDWICK SYNOPSIS The 93rd Bomb Group was the most decorated, most traveled and most effective bomb group of WWII. Helping to cripple Hitler's Europe from the air, they executed some of the most daring bombing raids of the war. Along with the group's rich history - sons, daughters and grandchildren travel to England and explore the 93rd's long forgotten airbase - Hardwick Aerodrome 104. |
