Earth to Humans... Come in, Humans...

Greetings!

You probably want to brighten that photo up in the header, don’t you? Me too. The thing is, it’s an unfiltered image that fairly accurately represents what it can look like when topsoil lifts into the air, so I decided to leave it as is.

Speaking of soil, this is a quick note to let you know that a new post is on the blog, exploring my hunch that 2018 is the year we get dirty in all the right ways.

Soil has been telling us for millennia how it can feed us well, and more recently it has been trying to show us the way to reverse global warming. (Yes: I mean “reverse”).

I think it’s time we put our ears to the ground and listened. I offer a few ideas about where I see that happening and what it might mean. If you have more to add, feel free to leave a comment—I’d love to hear from you, and we could all use more information on this topic, sooner rather than later.

As always, I welcome your feedback and I thank you for joining me on this journey.

Yours in connectedness,
Lorraine

PS Photos (both by me): Above - This shot was taken in the middle of the day, across from a timber seller near Gondar, Ethiopia. Below - Bees, fruit trees, medicinal plants and more thrive among the soils of Tena Kabena, an urban agriculture organization in the heart of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where local volunteers and students tend a remarkably diverse city farm that is merely steps away from derelict and relatively barren parts of the city.
