Flinders University O'Week 2018

The Saving Nemo team was delighted to see so many new faces (amongst familiar ones) this year at O'Week! To all of those that came down to have a chat with us and sign up, welcome to Saving Nemo! If you are looking to find out a bit more about who we are and what we do, make sure to check out our website via the link at the bottom of this newsletter. We'd like to thank all of those who made a donation during O'Week by purchasing our keepcups and hats - keep an eye out for further opportunities throughout the year to pick up some SN merch if you're interested!

ACSA 2018 Citizen Science Conference

Founder of Saving Nemo, Prof. Karen Burke da Silva represented SN at the ACSA Citizen Science Conference last month.

Here at Saving Nemo we are huge advocates for citizen science and even have our very own citizen science project known as IC-ANEMONE. This project involves the first global database aimed specifically at better understanding where and when clownfish and anemones are occurring and what threatens their survival in the wild.

Emily
Post Doc

I'm a visiting Postdoctoral Research Fellow from University of Melbourne. My research is looking into how environmental stressors impact fish behaviour and fitness. I'm currently working with clownfish to investigate how artificial light at night might influence spawning behaviour and development of their offspring.

Cassie
Ph.D. Student

I have just started my Ph.D. and will be following on from my pervious research with Saving Nemo into anemone bleaching and toxicity! My Ph.D. will further explore how citizen scientists, just like you, can contribute to our research!
