This Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for. I'm grateful for my family, my patients and now...my readers.
When the year started, I was working to finalize my first novel and get it published. As we get closer to the end of the year, I look back and see that I have achieved many of the goals I set for myself as I embarked on this journey of moving out of my "comfort zone". After all, being a periodontist and becoming a published author are not exactly in the same realm of expertise. I've shared those feelings with many along my book tour stops by saying that it takes courage to move from your "comfort zone" of what you know and do well to risk experiencing things you want to try but aren't necessarily comfortable doing.
I'm really glad I ventured out. It's been a wonderful few months with the exhilarating feeling of "firsts"-- seeing my words in print and hearing from so many readers expressing how much they love the story.
None of this could have happened without my incredibly supportive family and a cadre of long-time friends. I'm grateful to each of them. I'm also grateful to all the new friends, bookstore owners, and readers who have come into my life through Blood Memory Society. All of you have made this year of new adventures an amazing ride!
I am thankful for each and everyone of you!
Wishing you a Thanksgiving full of blessings with those you love,
Gratefully,
Darryl
