After graduating from Westfield Schools in 1973, Wayne attended ABAC, pursuing a degree in horticulture. Because of medical issues with his back, he was forced to leave ABAC and come home to Perry. His career began as the sign shop foreman for the Houston County government in 1977. Then, after attending the vocational school for architectural and civil drafting, he moved to a job as a draftsman in the tax assessor's office and worked in that role until his retirement on June 15th, 2016.
Wayne has been a dedicated volunteer for ten years. He loves to research and provides much information on genealogy and other topics as requested. He makes all visitors feel welcome and offers tours within the museum. In his own words, his role at the museum is “Whatever Miss Ellie needs.” He enjoys working on all the different miscellaneous tasks that come with volunteering.
