Women in Aviation Tampa Bay Chapter celebrates 10 years!

The concept for the Women in Aviation Tampa Bay Chapter was born in April 2014 when aviation enthusiasts, Angye Fox and Daniel Funk, attended the Sun 'n Fun event in Lakeland. While exploring the many tables of vendors and sponsors they stopped at the Women in Aviation International table where they met Audra Hoy who was then the WAI Chapter Coordinator. Audra said, "Hey, we don't have a chapter in the Tampa Bay area. Would the two of you consider starting one?" So they did! Our first official meeting was on June 3, 2014 at the Jet Center which is now Sheltair. From attendees of the first meeting, Daniel Funk, Aleta Vinas, and Angye Fox are still Chapter members to this day.

Angye and Daniel are hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, June 1. We hope to see you there!

2025 Officer Vacancy

Annually we must fill officer positions for our chapter in order to maintain chapter status and all the benefits of being a chapter member of Women in Aviation, International. Required officer seats include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chair, and Outreach Chair.

All seats are filled for 2024.

Vacancies for 2025 include Vice President

After 4 years as a member of WAITB in the roles of Membership Chair, Secretary and now my 2nd year as Vice President, I will be leaving this role. It is my honor to work with Mariah and all of our officers in supporting our chapter goals.

Duties of this position include assisting the President with chapter requirements to maintain current chapter status with WAI. Together officers work to plan and support various events.

In addition to my duties as VP, I have also developed and maintained the chapter website and written these newsletters. These roles will also have to be filled.

I am happy to coach and mentor anyone willing to fill the position of Vice President, Web-master, or newsletter editor.
