Black Friday!?!? It is funny, because my kids asked just this week, "What is Black Friday?" While I sometimes feel like I am sheltering my children, I also pride myself in so many things that they don't know because to us, it just isn't important.
We hope you had a great Thanksgiving day relaxing and spending it however you wish. For us, we slept in! YIKES! On Wednesday, Thanksgiving Eve, we had our friend from college come from Illinois and breed our cows. Wade decides on what days to bred based on the Farmer's Alamac, which is influenced by the moon. I won't pretend to know anything else other than that. My job is to run the head gate and make sure no one slips through that shouldn't. LOL!
We finished breeding cows about 8:00 p.m. and had supper. The kids went to bed a little later than normal, around 9:00 p.m. Wade and I enjoyed visiting with our friend and just enjoying being in the company of someone who loves the things we do. So often, we get tied with the the mundane day to day things that we forget the basic things in life that can bring us joy....a good conversation.
Sunday, November 27th is the first Sunday in Advent. For me, this is the season of extra busy time at my job at church. At church, I serve as the Youth Director and the Administrative Assistant. I love my job for some many reasons, but it reminds me to reset and refocus on the important things, multiple times a year....not just Christmas and Easter.
As we start the Advent Season, I am reminded of the REASON. Whatever that is for you, for me, it is that I am just a small piece of the puzzle. I am just a building block, stepping stone to the bigger picture BUT I matter. My children matter. My family matters.
As you enter this Advent and Holiday season, I ask that you take time to reflect on all the things that you are blessed with. We are so thankful for each and every person that we talk to. Here is to a blessed holiday season.
