This past autumn QX Wang, a philosopher and an inspiring artist, was featured at a solo exhibition ‘Beyond the Image’ at Stride Arts gallery. In this exhibit, more than 20 powerful pieces from Wang’s ‘Ox Story Series’ were shown. Wang utilizes a variety of artistic styles and media. In a recent interview with Art in America, Wang said that he was always amazed by the spirit of the ox, even as a child. Indeed, in some of his work, Wang’s images of oxen emerge as if rendered by a child but nonetheless reflect the rich cultural significance of the ox.
