April 2022

Hello Kainaatis!

We know you are all busy and cannot check videos every time they are released. Our goal here is to collect them monthly and deliver those straight to your mailbox. In addition, we provide you a guide to some of the interesting happenings in the night sky. In April, look for Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn - all lined up in the early morning sky. And we also have a (non-committal) prediction for Eid!

Eid Moon

Of course, there is curiosity about the Eid Moon. Astronomical New Moon (when the Moon is not visible at all) is at 01:28am (Pakistan time) on May 1st. The crescent may be visible to the naked eye in the evening of May 1st, with its visibility increasing the farther you go west. Eid on May 2nd is quite likely in Europe and the US, but remains a very small possibility in Pakistan (depending on the seeing conditions).

Moon and Constellations

Look for the Moon near its full phase near the constellation Virgo. The yellow-ish star to the left of the Moon is Arcturus. Look for a dim star to the right of and above the Moon. This is Regulus, that makes the front paw of Leo, the lion (9 pm on April 15).

Morning Sky

An hour before sunrise, look for planets Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn (5 am on April 15).
