Happy New Year!
Do you know why the New Year is a time for people to start over, start fresh or start new? It’s because people make the choice to think new thoughts. They are using the brand New Year to decide to change their outlook. If you are like most people, including me, you take time to reflect on the past year and see what you want to accomplish next year. It starts the cycle in the mind to crave change because we get the “new opportunity.”
What if this year you take every single day as an opportunity. Yes, planning goals and change in the New Year is great, but most people don’t stick with their resolutions. Try and take a new approach this year and just take it one day at a time. I think making small steps towards change every day is better than creating something you won’t stick to in the end. Allow yourself to take small steps towards your overall goal.
Wake up 20 minutes earlier, go on a 15 minute walk, eat extra vegetables instead of carbs with one meal, read 10 pages of a book, make your bed…. Do little things every day to help your mind create habits. Your mind wants you to stay safe and comfortable. If you start making huge changes too quickly, your mind will continue to battle with you. The process of change is hard on purpose. If change was easy, everyone would do it.
