"The thing is that being human isn't about feeling happy. It's about feeling everything." -Glennon Doyle Okay, truth talk: raise of hands…have y'all ever been in such a mood you don't just have your grumpy pants on? Instead, you have an entire outfit with matching shoes? Be honest, now! Because it's me at this exact moment. Haha! My friends, in the past few weeks, I have skated through every emotion you can think of, gliding my way through beautiful, sparkling moments to the cluttered, dark spaces and everything in between. I think the word I'm searching for to describe all of this is called "life," and, like every single one of you, I have felt every bit of it. I write this not to be a downer or type a grievance for life's complaint box. I write this as a reminder, to myself mainly, that it is okay to feel, and it's okay to sit in the uncomfortable. In many cases, those moments, those feelings, overwhelming as they can be, is where we find the most growth, resolve, and clarity. This reminds me of another Glennon Doyle quote, “I understand now that I’m not a mess but a deeply feeling person in a messy world.” So, if you have your grumpy outfit on too, may I just say, you look gorgeous and stylish as you sit in those big emotions. You got this! You'll work through it! And most importantly, YOU are loved. XO Rebekah |

2022 Spartan US National Series |
Last year, after my third-ever Spartan Race, I discovered there was a US National Series for Age Group. I decided to quietly throw my hat in the ring and see what happened. I traveled to Florida, San Luis Obispo, Big Bear, and South Carolina. I went to urgent care more times than ever, had three different x-rays, and even needed an MRI. I raced through heat, intense elevation gains, disabling muscle cramps, dehydration, cuts, scrapes, bruises, shoulder tears, untied shoe laces, sprained ankles, and even an injured heel in the last race. I competed alongside the most amazing athletes, who I am blessed to now call friends. We cheered each other on the race course and off. Ultimately, I placed 6th in the nation, ranking me in the Top 10 in my age group!! Thank you to my incredible coaches and trainers for spending hours with me on workout schedules, strategies, and techniques. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported and cheered me on this past year. I felt your hands on my back each step of the way. AROO! |
