Our joint Masters of Ceremonies are "brushing" up on their microphone skills!

Erik Thompson of Viking Genetics Australia (left) and Anthony Shelly of Genetics Australia (right) prove that they know how to have some fun, as well as taking their hosting duties for conference day seriously.

We decided it was such a big job to lead the conference day's proceedings properly that we should have not one, but two, Masters of Ceremonies.  Erik and Anthony bring both formality and a sense of fun to the main conference day around which our entire event circles.  We look forward to the dulcet tones of these two gents leading us on conference day 26th March 2019.

We've organised to take the tour group to the fascinating Kilsby Sinkhole located near Mount Gambier, where the main conference will be held.

Located in the middle of a sheep grazing paddock on a farm located 10 minutes from Mount Gambier, Kilsby Sinkhole is an amazing natural wonder with a unique and fascinating history.

Once little more than a watering hole for travelling stockmen who would throw a bucket into water below to quench the thirst of their cattle, the sinkhole has since been central to four generations of the farming activity of the Kilsby Family.

The sinkhole has been used for weapons research testing and diver training, and is now an emerging tourist icon of the Limestone Coast of South Australia.  This information drawn from kilsbysinkhole.com and photo supplied courtesy of Ockert Le Roux

Our full tour will visit the "Blackwood Park" Australian Red Dairy Breed herd of Jan Raleigh near Timboon Victoria.  One of Jan's cows has been Australian Red Dairy Breed's social media icon on Facebook and Twitter for some time as she is a lovely example of sleek functionality.

Jan started off with her father's Dairy Shorthorn herd as a base, and since 1988 has been using Scandinavian red proven and progeny test AI sires.  As Jan looks back on 30 years of breeding Australian Reds she considers the herd's good temperament as one of the best characteristics achieved.
