Be careful Monsoons are coming |

MONSOON HOPES A Sonnet by James M. Hagen
Ah, monsoon rain you come at last; Reminds me of the distant past Before the drought that scorched our land When beetle kill was out of hand ‘Twas rain and noon and rain at night; The thunder roared with all its might. The trees and plants and bushes thrived As daily monsoon rains arrived.
We only hope you’re here to stay To bring us moisture day by day Through July, August, into fall; And pour down-we won’t mind at all. A bit of wind and hail’s ok- Just don’t blow all our clouds away.
Be careful out there these storms can come on fast and peaceful canyons and streams can turn to dangerous water ways. |

The First Miners of Rim Country |
|
|
The first miners to leave their mark in Tonto were the Spaniards. Their primary reason for exploring north from Mexico in the 1500's was to search for the legendary Seven Cities of Gold. During the next several hundred years Spanish explorers searched for precious metals throughout much of what is now Arizona, and in some areas gold was located. Evidence of Spanish gold mining in Tonto can still be found in the form of stone arrastrars which were used to grind the gold bearing rock so the gold could be extracted. This gold was then loaded on pack animals and taken back to Mexico for shipment to Spain. |

The Christopher Kohl's Firebelles are inviting you to assist in sponsoring a special September event benefiting the Christopher Kohl's Fire Department. Our dedicated firefighters need to purchase a minimum of 4 Lunar Thermal Imaging Units plus a Laptop to fully implement this technology at a cost of $11,000. Lunar gives a visual image showing the location of a body, a fallen firefighter, and can identify and locate the fire and its origin as well as exit points. Now that this advanced technology is available, it is vital that funds are raised for the purchase of this technology to best protect our firefighters and community. Sponsors will help offset the cost and. increase the profit from our planned fall event. Learn more and watch a demo about the equipment at https://us.msasafetv.com/inarkets/fire-service. A Precious Gift
I look at the sky, cobalt blue And can't help but think, dear, of you. Two doggies are here by my side; Their eyes and their ears open wide. I'm leaning against a giant old tree; The world that's before us is free. This sky, trees, and air are all mine. God loans it to us for a time. This Rim country, source of our pride It’s here I prefer to abide. He tells us it’s ours to respect: A charge that we cannot neglect. And yes you are His gift to me To cherish for eternity.
