Happy New Year from Magnolia Wellness
Sat Nam Friends,
2023 holds powerful new energy for us all, should we choose to allow it. We have moved into a 7-year (2+0+2+3=7) and this year is all about expansion. In the Kundalini tradition, 7 in numerology represents our Aura. The Aura is known as our "platform of elevation" this means when our energy field is strong and expansive, we have the ability to elevate ourselves and those around us.
The idea of an aura is not totally "whoo-hoo," as modern science acknowledges that humans have an electrical frequency or biofield. For thousands of years, the yogis have known this and used the practice of yoga, meditation and pranayama (breath) to expand and strengthen the auric field.
Over the past three years, many of us have shrunk our auras as we avoided contact with others and made ourselves small not to crowd the space of others or have them crowd our space. In addition, uncertainty, fear and grief significantly impact our energy field. Unfortunately, this behaviour has caused the auras of many of us to become closer to the body rather than expanding outward up to 9 feet.
We need an expansive aura. You may remember, as kids, we used to say, "I am rubber, and you are glue; whatever you say to me bounces off of me and sticks to you"? When our aura is strong, it is like rubber; it acts like a negativity protective shield. Conversely, when our aura is weak, we are prone to illness, and feeling low or depressed, we may over-give in people-pleasing ways. In my Reconnective Healing sessions over the past two years, I have worked with many clients to gently coax their energy field out from being tight to their body to expand outward.
The numerology of 2023 can have the power to affect us even without our effort, so be prepared to feel yourself expanding. If you have been working on new ventures, want to try new things, make new friends or shift aspects of your lifestyle, the number 7 will support you and move you forward.
Tips for expanding your aura to gain the maximum benefits of this year are yoga, meditation, pranayama, nature, fresh foods like leafy greens and fruit, and fresh juices. Body work includes massage, chiropractic, cranial sacral, reconnective healing, reiki and fascial stretch therapy.
We have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about 2023! Numerology and astrology are bringing expansion, shifts and lots of movement to release the stagnant energy it is time to release.
A special offer for this winter is 25% off all Past Life Regression sessions. When you request your session, enter the promo code PLR25. This applies to all bookings made from January 4th to March 31st. Offering these sessions is the kind of work that, after a session, I feel like someone needs to pinch me to make sure it's even for real! The past few years, client sessions have been profound. It is an absolute honour to sit with clients' Souls as we journey through past experiences to bring greater understanding to the here and now. These sessions can bring peace and acceptance by offering clarity. As we untie karmic knots with others, we regain peace and can heal from unhealthy dynamics in relationships.
Meghan and I offer something new on Monday nights; we call it Mix it up Monday. Every Monday at 6:30 pm, we will offer four alternating classes. Meghan will lead an upbeat Intermediate Vinyasa class and a healing Yin. Darcy will lead an invigorating Intermediate Traditional Kundalini and a Candlelight Restorative. These classes offer an opportunity to try different styles of yoga and will balance challenging classes with softer self-care-oriented classes.
Yoga is a powerful tool for healing and expanding our health. Yoga postures and the purpose of yoga is traditionally to prepare the body for meditation. Historically, yogis would sit in meditation for long durations, and the postures of yoga were used to ensure that the body was in alignment to endure the physical aspect of sitting in meditation. As Westerners, we have modified yoga to suit our needs and use it as a fitness tool. However, yoga is so much more than a physical practice; North Americans have commodified yoga and adapted it to appeal to the masses. Unfortunately, this does a huge disservice to the practice. Our issues are in our tissues; taking the time to slow down and engage in postures can touch on those issues. In touching on those issues, we may feel discomfort, sadness and a multitude of emotions (even laughter). As we move through those emotions, we can release the energy pent up within our body and let it go.
I recall about ten years ago; I was practicing a meditation called Bound Lotus; you are literally tied up like a pretzel for 31 minutes listening to the Re Man Shabad. By about day three of my 40-day commitment, I HATED that mantra. My body hurt, my mind hurt, and my heart hurt. I wanted to quit, but I also wanted to know what it was that I was feeling. Within the first week, I realized it was anger, pure, intense, rage-filled anger. I cried, very ugly crying; I sobbed. One day I yelled, seemingly out of nowhere, "I hate my mother." It was intense. But I stuck with it, and by the 40th day, I had released so much physical and emotional pain from my being. I was changed, and layers of inner anger I didn't know I had peeled away like an onion. Yoga and meditation aren't always pretty, and sometimes the biggest challenge is just being still and getting in touch with what led you to your mat in the first place.
If you feel called to do a 40-day meditation, send me an email, and I will intuitively assign a 40-day practice for you. Throughout your 40 days, you will be welcome to connect with me for support and guidance.
Wishing you your best year yet.
Blessings,
Darcy
