'Flow' by Deb Cochrane is on display from today, with Thursday's Opening night officially kicking off the exhibition. If you would like to come along, be sure to RSVP today. There is a Meet the Artist on Saturday morning from 10-11am and Deb will be sitting the gallery for the next 2 Sundays from 10am-3pm. Make the most of these extended hours if you haven't had a chance to visit the gallery in person yet! In this exhibition, Deb explores the idea that “Nature knows that flow is a natural state, it is not only evident in water but in the land and the air, and in us. When we quiet our minds we let ourselves ‘go with the flow’ “. Including works from the US and Australia.
There's a special preview event which has just been added to the Glimmer Gallery calendar - Carla Tucker all but sold out her last exhibition at Glimmer and she has quite a following in the world of Still Life. I have been lucky to snag her ahead of an exhibition at Boroondara Town Hall. 'Borrowed' is an exhibition of still life paintings based around Carla's response to Australian art from the twentieth century including landscapes, interiors and portraits. Carla pays respect to past artists by 'borrowing' from their legacy, aptly bound in the form of book motifs featured throughout many of the works on display. An abundance of native flora in the still lifes completes the Australiana theme.
Gino Severin is another returning artist (currently Artist-in-Residence) who has an intriguing theme of 'Boundless', which is a reflection on the premise that time never ends and everything is temporary. Gino also sold many of his works at the last exhibition, so if you missed out (and a number of people were disappointed), RSVP today. It's wonderful to think that many of these works are being painted right above where I am sitting now.
To RSVP to any of these events, simply click on the RSVP buttons. Outside opening nights, we are open 9am-3pm Wed to Fri, 9am-12pm Saturdays and Sundays only as advertised.
Note that Virtual Galleries are online for all our exhibitions but also....viewing in person is the best!! And it's a lot less crowded than the NGV.
