2019 Annual GHOA Assessments Are on their way! Per the approved budget, the assessment remains the same, at $375. The most secure and safest way to get those assessments to the GHOA treasurer is through your online bill pay system with your bank. A check mailed through the US Postal Service is the next safest means of getting those checks into the proper hands. At this time, you may place your check inside an envelope in a mailbox located in the activity center through the month of January. Please watch your shout-out information emails for a future location option after January 30. The mailbox located inside the building is questionable and should be used at your own risk. Please use good judgement and use your online bill pay or US Postal Service to get the assessment check into the treasurer in a timely fashion. Checks that are written incorrectly, postdated, misspelled or with corrections/scratch outs are not accepted at our financial institution. Avoid the miscommunication and/or late fees; write checks correctly with the lot number clearly noted on your check. This effort is highly appreciated. |

Words from the Secretary With this year coming to a close, Ruthie, our webmaster and I have created a great means of communication between the GHOA board and the GHOA community. Hours are vested into the newsletter making it what it has become today. As a strong motivator myself within the GHOA neighborhood, promoting communication, the website and all its information at ones finger tips has been my goal. Registering email addresses and getting not only the newsletter but shout-outs right to your email has grown at a strong steady pace. I am happy to say that our numbers increase monthly. My hope for 2019 is that as a community, we keep that momentum going. Take a stand and support Golf Hammock and all that it represents. There are many opportunities to get involved. Whether you choose to be a committee chair or perhaps an active member of a committee, you can make a difference. There are lots of areas of opportunity in 2019. Please keep in mind that our website www.ghoaonline.com is your point of reference. If you need to see any sort of documentation, an updated community calendar or past meeting minutes to name a few, please check out our website. Don’t forget to register your email address so that newsletters and shout-outs go directly to your email account. Remember to check out the website, https://nextdoor.com Keep in mind that this is a third party social media website and is not sponsored, funded or operated by the GHOA. It is also important that common sense is used when posting to any social media site. If there is a question or concern that is a GHOA matter please use our website and email us directly those concerns. DebSteuer |

If you were anywhere near the Golf Hammock circle the afternoon of December 3rd you may have heard quite a commotion with honking car horns. The Golf Hammock ladies interclub team was celebrating their coronation as Heartland Interclub champions. The Golf Hammock team travelled to Sun N Lake earlier in the day with the season championship at stake. Golf Hammock and sister course Harder Hall were playing for the season crown. The ladies brought home the championship in high style – winning both the tournament and the crown. It was the club’s third tournament win of the season. Heartland Interclub is a series of nine tournaments held between April and December. Teams compete at golf courses throughout Highlands County. A highlight-filled day included team member Marilyn Redenbarger scoring a hole in one on the 15th hole of the Turtle course. Beth Weiler had three birdies on her way to winning the A flight, Marilyn Redenbarger took top honors in the C flight and Barbara Walczak won the D flight. Sue Pratt finished in a tie for third in the B flight. The trophy is proudly on display in the Golf Hammock proshop. The architectural chairman is Roger Steuer ghoatreasurer@gmail.com If you are making any changes to the appearance of your home take a moment, send an email, making the association aware of your project. Currently, many are installing generators, this is a required approval and many if not all contactors in this area are aware that documentation approval is needed for this equipment to be installed. Keep in mind just like unsightly trash cans are not to be seen from the street, appropriate screening should be concealing tanks etc. Sheds or other structures as well as fences and many other projects require building permits according to the Highland County building and zoning departments. This procedure verifies that your project is within the guideline of the stated rules and regulations. This only protects you as a homeowner. Please contact the building and zoning department verifying what your project requires and the guidelines that are to be followed. The Data Base/Directory chairman is Marge Schindewolf. If you have made any changes with your contact information, it is your responsibility as a property owner to get that type of information to the GHOA. If you have a seasonal address that in no longer valid, please update your information. Your phone number has changed or you no longer have a land line, update your information. If you have a new mailing/billing address, again please update your information. If your email address has changed and you registered previously with another, you must re-register the new email address on the website, www.ghoaonline.com to continue getting shout-outs and newsletters. Any updates (except email address changes) can be emailed directly to Marge: margeschindewolf@comcast.net |
