88th TX Legislature News Summary, 03 February 2023

This week's new bills in the TX 88th Legislative Session included backyard chickens (yep, you read that right), teacher raises, parental rights, parent notification of student emotional changes, prohibiting 'sexually explicit material,' Texas Association of School Boards and transgender, reigning in rogue DA's which includes first post-Roe legislative discussion, new TX Border Czar, how to use the budget surplus.

07 February 2023 Parks Board Meeting

The Willow Park Parks Board Meeting on Tuesday, 07 February 2023 will include presentations and discussions on the Willow Park Parks & Trails Master Plan; Cross Timbers Playground; future park and trail improvements with 5-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP); The meeting is at 6p at the El Chico City Hall.

"Invasion" on the Border, Parker Co. included

This week Gov.Abbott appointed a TX Border Security Czar, backed a proposal to create 'Texas Title 42' expulsion policy for illegal immigrants, and sent a letter to Biden referencing Biden's visit to the border on Jan. 8 as "$20 billion too little and two years too late."

Backyard chickens now part of TX 88th Legislative Session

Now we know. The chicken crossed the isle to get into legislation during the TX 88th Legislative Session; three bills have been introduced to support "backyard chickens in a residential area" and "food production allowed on single-family residential lot." This legislation will definitely draw the support of many of our Willow Park neighbors.

Falling Across Texas, Remembering the Columbia Shuttle

Although most of the Columbia Shuttle debris was found in east Texas and southern Louisiana, debris recovery teams searched an area from the north west town of Littlefield, across the Parker County area. Today, 01 February 2023 marks the twentieth anniversary of the Columbia Shuttle tragedy.
