Various Voices Festival 2026

View & Vote 2026 - opens on 1st August

Only one month to go! You will be able to view and download all the presentations of the bidding cities on the LEGATO website on 1st August. Each member choir will score both bidding cities, once they have read the bid document, looked at the media presentation and asked their members what they think.
The link to vote will be sent by email to each member choir.

Our friends in Brussels and Barcelona have been working hard creating their vision of the Various Voices Festival 2026. Considering venues and locations for us to sing and play in their city. Liaising with funders, sponsors and government to put together a festival in their city for us all to enjoy. They have also put together a media presentation to complement the bid document and budget.

The Legato Various Voices team has been working with both teams providing information and advice on the bid documentation and festival specification. The bid documents and budget have been assessed and feedback given and both teams have finalized their bids to meet the deadline. The final bids will be reassessed and these assessments will be uploaded for you all to look at with the bid and specifications on the 1st August. The host city for Various Voices 2026 will be announced later this year and there will be a handover ceremony at the close of Various Voices Bologna in 2023.

Our deepest sympathy...

...goes out for the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, their families and friends who have to face a tragic accident at the Florida Pride in Fort Lauderdale.

Heartwarming project - Love is Love video out now

Against homophobia - for more understanding and love in the world: Over the last winter three Legato member choirs - Regenbogenchor (Munich, Germany), Loud & Proud (Edinburgh, Scotland) and Qwerty Queer (Odessa, Ukraine) - joined their voices to create a heartwarming video about love and freedom - sung and filmed individually by the participants, edited by Ukrainian choir director Olga Rubtsova and filmmaker Kristina Oginskaya.

We welcome our New Member Choir:
Queer-essence choir from Kharkiv/Ukraine

They are singing since 2019 and combine it with LGBTQ+ activism. Have a look at their Youtube channel and Facebook page and like them if you like.

Annual General Meeting 2021

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be scheduled for later this year. The Governance team has been negotiating with the German authorities to make a change to our Articles of Association. This is so we can choose to hold our meetings and votes virtually or in person, or a combination of both. The Law was temporarily changed to allow this option during the covid pandemic but a virtual option allows for greater engagement and democracy. The Board wants to include these options into our Articles and once we have the text agreed we will share these changes with you and set the date for our Annual General Meeting.

There are no elections for the Board of Directors this year as the term is for 2 years.

We look forward to sharing our work on your behalf to make Legato more relevant and effective to all our members and wider community.
