Wise uses technology to its advantage, having been created by a couple of Estonian Tech-Wizards back in 2011. I can't explain the magic very well, but essentially, you connect your two bank accounts through your Wise account, and transfer money between the two accounts within minutes and for a fraction of what you would normally pay.
For example, in the time that I've written this tip, I was able to transfer C$500 from Canada to Mexico between my two bank accounts, for the cost of C$1.20 instead of the close to C$40 in bank fees. Plus no worrying and waiting 3-5 business days for my money to arrive. Another bonus: the exchange rates they use are also better than the average bank rates.
I've now tested this app out a few times, and have been completely satisfied with 1) the speed, 2) the exchange rate, 3) the cost, and most importantly 4) the security of my money transfer. Wise also offers free transfers through referrals for both you and me, if you use this link to join: https://wise.com/invite/ihpn/jacquelinepierrettem
I recommend you try it for yourself to see if it could work for you and your international money transfers. It could also save you a bundle over the years!
Welcome to September - my favourite month of the year, and not only because it's my birthday on the 10th! September has always started my internal calendar, having been a student and educator for nearly all my life. Do you also confuse your non-teacher friends when using "next year" for September? With the start of the school year, some of you will be deciding to make changes to your jobs, schools, and countries. If you're considering recruiting this fall, this is a great time to get me working on your new CV and cover letter, and helping you with your new job search. I work directly with you to showcase your strengths as a candidate, helping you prepare for the upcoming recruitment season.
