BIG News Announcement

There are several new and exciting events taking place in Virginia this year!

We will be adding classes for USPRE and USLA registered horses this year! If your horse is not registered with IAHLA these classes are for you. These will be designated as “exhibition” classes. We have chosen a variety of classes but we want to hear from you. We want to know what type of classes you’d like us to add. We are running on a tight deadline so if you want to see a particular class in the show please let us know by June 3rd. We are an inclusive club and we want to give ALL our members the opportunity to show no matter what organization they are registered with.

Another exciting event that we’ve added to the roster this year in Virginia is our Breeders Showcase. We’d like to support our members who have breeding programs by giving them a spotlight at our show. This spotlight includes an exhibition with your horse in a form of your choice during the breed show to music and a script you provide, a stall at a discounted rate, a discounted rate on our hotel, a listing in the program, and your banner displayed along the rail. It’s a great way to connect with potential clients. We are proud of our American bred horses, and we want to show them off!

We also have another special opportunity at our Educational Symposium in Virginia this year! Have you ever wanted to ask the judge a question or wondered what the judge was looking for? Here is your chance! Wayne G Hipsley, BSc, MSc. will be the keynote speaker presenting, “From A Judges Point Of View: Presentation of the Halter Horse and Sport Horse”, at this year’s educational symposium day held on August 23rd in Virginia.

From A Judges Point Of View:

Presentation of the Halter Horse & Sport Horse

Have you ever wanted to ask the judge a question or wondered what the judge was looking for? Here is your chance! Wayne G Hipsley, BSc, MSc. will be the keynote speaker presenting, “From A Judges Point Of View: Presentation of the Halter Horse and Sport Horse”, at this year’s educational symposium day held on August 23rd in Virginia. He is a very familiar face to ERAHC, judging the Andalusian/Lusitano horse. He has served as a USEF A/L judge for over 25 years. He has participated in the 5-day Spanish judges training program conducted in Madrid, where he honed his skills and appreciation for the Spanish horse. He has served as the instructor for the USEF A/L judge's seminars on numerous occasions. He has judged the A/L National Show and Regional Shows as well as many ERAHC sponsored shows, thus is very familiar with the traditions of the breed. One of goals is to help the amateur exhibitor gain confidence to be successful in the presentation of their horse. Rounding off the day we will also be featuring many alternative health modality experts. Stay tuned for more information.

From A Judges Point Of View: Presentation of the Halter Horse and Sport Horse is a hands-on training session for all exhibitors to learn tips on making a positive impression to the judge. From movement and handler position to posing the horse to overcome faults, the discussion and practical training session will provide unique information and easy to follow tips.

This is a 2-hour presentation with an initial introduction to the process and how to impress a judge. The first session will be an overview of the process, including why and how certain procedures and maneuvers are used. The second session the exhibitor will be using their horse in a mock in-hand and sport horse class, with critique and recommendations for improvement in handling your horse are the walk, trot and posing.

Know the difference in the style of presentation for the traditional in-hand halter breed class and the sport horse work on the triangle.

All of the information provides a foundation for practicing at home in preparation for the show.

A unique new documentary film about the Pure Spanish Horse

An intimate and personal journey to unravel the relationship of effort, love and passion between man and horse. This film takes another look at the culture, traditions related to the horse and the value of an animal that has been crucial in Spanish society throughout the centuries. The goal with this documentary was to get to know first hand some of the secrets kept in the historical archives of Cordoba and to bring the viewer closer to the day to day life of those who for centuries have played a fundamental role alongside the horse in preserving its purity.
