What drives you ...
Each New Year offers the opportunity to create new patterns, to introduce greater opportunities, to heal and release the past so we have the space to bring in a deeper Truth about ourselves and our Life...
And for this to happen we must first try to figure out not only Who and What we are, but more specifically what drives us - for it is only by understanding this hidden part of ourselves that we can hope to fulfill ALL that we are.
You see, most of us are so focused on taking care of our duties, of living according to social standards, of meeting our Karmas that we seldom, if ever, take the time to really look at our Inner Passions.
Now this can manifest itself either positively or negatively.
We can be triggered by injustice, fight against greed and exploitation, be touched by the struggles of those discarded by society, or even by the powerless plight experienced by abused animals, or be deeply offended by pollution and the care-less attitude so many have about our Planet... [as so many have clearly said “There is NO Planet-B”.]
It is in these passions that we discover a nobler path, a greater purpose that adds meaning to our Life.
Yes, we can be champions for these Causes and truly make our lives matter; and by so doing, make this a better Planet...one where we are closer to birthing a healthier Brotherhood of Man, where Balance and Harmony are not just philosophical concepts, but rules to live by.
Yet these passions can equally manifest as negative patterns, ones where we are driven by anger and resentment, so deeply triggered by callous use-and-abuse that in our offense we react just like the offender, and so become perpetrators ourselves.
It is easy to face violence with more violence [after all, don’t we say “He who lives by the sword, shall die by the sword”... Don’t we quote the Bible and say “Vengeance is mine, said the Lord” - and in my Righteous Indignation can I excuse my desire for revenge as being ‘God’s Work’ ? ... after all, how many wars and persecutions have been couched as ‘Divine Will’ ! [anyone still in favor of the Spanish Inquisition ?!]
It is easy to point an accusing finger to racists / bigots / narcissists / entitled elitists ... and fling cool labels, like ‘fascist / communist / capitalist...’ [and add ‘pig’ under your breath]... Do you not realize that energetically, you are now no better than the very thing that offended you in the first place - so be very careful in how you express your Righteous Disdain, that by so doing you’ll reveal the wormy apple within.
This IS a New Year, an opportunity to create a new and prosperous future, one filled with health and security, and the re-emergence of true equal opportunities for all ... but only if we look forward and not backwards.
I am not proposing that we ignore or forget past offenses, nor to sweep under the carpet all that was done in the name of Greed and Abuse [I am a strong supporter of holding people accountable for their actions, especially those in positions of authority]... but I do encourage you all to be pro-active and not reactive, to look to create a better Future, and not wallow in past Darkness... to be a Light Bearer, the living example of Wisdom and Harmony... [after all, that IS your true self]... to be the Change that you want to see in others... [now, that ain’t too difficult, is it ?]
And in this hope for a true Brotherhood-Sisterhood, I greet you all, my beloved Brothers and Sisters of the Path, Namaste...
