Mindful Viewing While we all have strategies for responding to stress, the pandemic has challenged most of us. I personally have drawn support from teachers and meditation groups online that normally would be too far away for me to visit, like the ones with San Francisco Insight. As a teacher, I recently joined other Tiny Habits coaches to give expert sessions on topics on tiny habits for positivity and wellness to productivity, work, family and relationships. My session, Tiny Meditation Habits for Resilience to Stress, was recorded and you can watch it any time. The new and past expert sessions can be found HERE

Mindful Reading Have you presently found yourself on a kind of involuntary meditation retreat? It's rare to take time out from the flow of our busy lives for intentional mindfulness practice. My meditation practice and mindfulness have been a critical support for me while on lockdown. It’s human to know difficult thoughts and emotions. These are even more likely when fear, anxiety and a loss of control are so far reaching. Self-Isolation, Meditation & Mental Health in Times of COVID-19, describes how mindfulness can help us meet challenging thoughts and emotions, much as we might on retreat. The perspectives shared are valuable any time, but right now are especially important.

QUOTE "When you spend a great deal of time in darkness, in solitary confinement, where everything blends into one, if you’re fortunate, you’ll begin to see things more vividly than you’ve ever seen them before. It may take days, weeks, months, years, but you’ll begin to see things as they really are. You’ll begin to see yourself as you have never seen yourself before. Because when you can’t see outside, you can only look inside." Sun Magazine interview Going the Distance, with the late Hurricane Carter |
