What a Recession Could Mean for Women Author Julia Boorstin makes a case for why women are well-equipped to lead in a downturn. Gen Z is driving luxury sales as wealthy shoppers get younger Generation Y, also known as millennials, and Generation Z accounted for all of the luxury market’s growth last year, according to a report from Bain & Co. Spending by Gen Z and the even younger Generation Alpha, or those under 13, is expected to make up a third of the luxury market through 2030. Social media has played a big part in influencing younger generations, creating demand for luxury goods. Travel & Hospitality news: Brand news this week: Starting 2023 with a bang, women are instrumental in launching new hotel brands and partnerships! Ace Hotels was acquired by Sortis Holdings, the acquisition was led by Kelly Sawdon, a partner at Sortis who worked at Ace Hotels for many years. Hilton added Spark, with Alissa Klees as the brand lead. Spark is the first economy brand for the company, with 100 under development so far. Our interview with Alissa is coming soon! Accor added the Handwritten Collection, a mid-scale soft brand. They have added 12 already, Caroline Bernard, SVP, Economy & Midscale Hotels, Accor, was integral in the creation of this new soft brand for independent hotels.
Why Travel Brands Should Ditch the Pre-Pandemic Playbook in 2023 Consumers’ travel behaviors this year will look much more similar to 2022 than to any pre-pandemic year, according to Morning Consult's travel & hospitality analyst Lindsey Roeschke.
