NEWS FROM DR. REID
Dear St. Patrick Families,
I trust you are having a great summer break so far. It’s been a busy time at St. Patrick as we are excitedly getting ready for everyone’s return in August. Even though we are only a few weeks into the summer, we are busy planning our new school year and I want to let you know about a few changes and provide information regarding programs and events.
As you may or may not know, we had 3 teachers leave us at the end of the school 2021-2022 school year. Mr. Dries decided after 13 years, it was time to transition and accepted a position outside of MACS, where he will be a kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Carroll decided to take a step back from full-time teaching and devote her time to her family and her 2 young sons. However, you will continue to see her around St. Patrick as a substitute teacher. Mrs. Honeycutt left St. Patrick, however, she will remain in the MACS system. She will be a 4th grade teacher at St. Mark in Huntersville, a drive that is much closer to her home. We wish them all the best of luck!
Changes to our teaching staff include, Mrs. Hernandez moving to 4th grade along with Mrs. Cuneo, who is transitioning from our LEAP program and Mr. Castro becoming a 2nd grade teacher. We have a new staff member for 3rd grade, although she is a familiar face around here, please help me welcome Ms. Katherine Tan to the St. Patrick family. Ms. Tan completed her student teaching here and graduated from Belmont Abbey College.
Our new classroom teams are as follows:
Kindergarten: Mrs. Nagel and Mrs. McLane
1st Grade: Ms. Taaffe and Mrs. Wenning
2nd Grade: Mr. Castro and Mrs. Stewart
3rd Grade: Ms. Ligon and Ms. Tan
4th Grade: Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Cuneo
5th Grade: Mr. Lynch and (in the process of hiring a 5th grade teacher)
LEAP: in the process of hiring
We also want to welcome our new PTO Board who have been busy planning and organizing many events for the new school year. Please make sure you reach out to the PTO and get involved this school year. Volunteer for one or several of the events. These events can only happen with our amazing PTO and parent volunteers.
