This month's Scriptstuff Poetry Night is on Wednesday December 15th, once again downstairs in what was described by a recent guest as the "well wizardish" Magic Lantern Room at Temperance Bar & Cafe in Leamington's town centre.
You don't need to book tickets for these monthly events, just come along and be a very welcome part of our community. The evening starts at 7pm and finishes by 10pm, entrance is £3 on the door or £2 to concessions, there is an interval and a licensed bar.
Last month saw an unprecedented bounty of correct answers (and prizes!) in the Big Poetry Quiz so we will be trying to top that, and there will be plenty of open mic slots available for anyone who fancies a go, with no need to book. We will have a special set from last month's Poet of the Month, the fabulous Van Ryan, and rather excitingly our special headline guest is none other than Coventry Poet Laureate Emilie Lauren Jones (pictured above, photo credit: Chatterbox Magazine).
Emilie Lauren Jones has performed alongside such poets as Simon Armitage, Liz Berry and Roy McFarlane. Her poetry has featured on local and national radio including BBC Radio 4, BBC 5Live and BBC 6 Music. In 2021, the year Coventry celebrated UK City of Culture, she became Coventry's first ever Poet Laureate. Emilie perfoms at events and venues all over the country, runs regular writing workshops for adults and young people and is passionate about making poetry accessible to a wide audience.
