Movers & Shakers the weekly edit |
|
|
A weekly edit, full of all singing and dancing makers, artists, interiors, food, fashion, gardening, music and more. Hello! Gosh, where does the time go? I hope you've had a good week. I ventured to London for a day trip; many friends asked how it was in the big smoke, was it ok going on public transport? Were there lots of people around? Etc. All I can say is that I recommend getting on a train and getting yourself out and about, wherever that might take you. Travelling on empty trains, walking on quiet streets was a pleasure. Yes, it was rather odd walking past restaurants, cafes and some shops which are currently closed but on the whole the atmosphere was calm and relaxed, not like the whirlwind we are used to. Buy a face mask and go quick, before the hoards return! xx Georgie xx |

AMY GOODWIN A TRADITIONAL SIGNWRITER AND FAIRGROUND ARTIST BASED IN CORNWALL. Amy undertakes her work using traditional methods by hand, using no tape nor digital assistance. Her work is heavily influenced from growing up and travelling with steam fairgrounds in the West Country - the elaborate and visual typography, flamboyant colours and meticulous lines are reflected in the signs she creates. Projects completed include restoration and paintwork commissions in the heritage, fairground and circus industries, alongside the design and production of one-off bespoke signs, in collaboration with individuals and business. BURTON AGNES HALL & GARDENS ... ... has opened up to members of the public. You do not need to be a member or become a member although I personally DO recommend membership ... once you've been, you'll want to return again and again and again. East Yorkshire's jewel in the crown. |

ROSE PETAL PUDDING by TOM PARKER BOWLES taken from the Fortnum & Mason The Cook Book. 'A rosewater-flavoured summer pudding, decorated with rose petals. If the months are more autumnal, swap the strawberries for blackberries and currants'. Tried, tested and love this recipe, as you might notice from the berry splatted image! It's easy and delicious - I thoroughly recommend giving it a go! | | |

DON'T BE A TOSSER ... My favourite piece of advertising I've seen in years (shown left). It's tragic it has to be about something that really shouldn't need to be marketed. How anyone can deliberately throw their rubbish out of a car window, drop it on the pavement, grass, walkways, beaches and rivers is beyond me. Well done Keep Britain Tidy, City of York Council, Marine Conservation Society and anyone else getting in on the action to help keep Britain tidy. |
