Meal Deals and Food Offers 

There are some varied and interesting foody events this week and next.

Starting with the Western Breeze Avurudu Food Festival will be on at Galle Face (specifically, on Baladaksha Mawatha). It's on Saturday and Sunday, 8th and 9th April, from 3.00pm until midnight. Expect stalls offering both international and local food, entertainment, music and more.

The Taste gourmet dinner at Botanik is happening this Saturday evening. It's a thirteen-course tasting dinner with a variety of dishes inspired from across Sri Lanka. Reservations are required.

The Warehouse have started a Sri Lankan Night which is now scheduled to happen every Saturday. There is a buffet, a la carte menu and live music. To find out more about it, check out our review.

If you want some great Sri Lankan food but don't want to wait till the weekend, Blue Lotus at the Galadari offer a Sri Lankan dinner from Thursday to Sunday, from 7.00pm to 11.00pm. They are also open for lunch from Monday to Friday.

A new "Immersive Dining Experience", Sri Lanka's first, is now open at 7 Degrees. restaurant. Enjoy fine dining while you are immersed in the sights and sounds of another place - outer space, underwater or something else.

And... if you enjoy Dim Sum then you might want to check out Long Fen at the Cinnamon Lakeside. They have launched an Endless Dim Sum offer at weekends. From 12.00pm to 3.00pm they have an all-you-can-eat dim sum buffet, for Rs5,500.

Drinks Deals

After some time, the Bavarian have reintroduced their Happy Hour. You can now once again enjoy buy one get one free on a selection of beverages, at the German restaurant and pub. Happy Hour is from 5.00pm to 7.00pm Monday to Friday and from 12.00 midday to 2.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Zouk now have a regular Ladies' Night on Thursdays. Ladies can enjoy a selection of cocktails free, from 8.00pm to 11.00pm on Thursday evenings.

And Pranzo, the Italian restaurant at Water's Edge, also have a happy hour at their outdoor lawn lounge, Vista Green. There you can enjoy buy one, get one free on selected beers and cocktails from 4.30pm to 6.30pm every day.

Live Music and DJs

This Thursday evening, head to the New Colonial Bar & Hotel for some Bossa Nova and South American jazz, by Paula, Malla, Isuru and Shane, from around 7pm.

On Saturday, "New Year" features Indrachapa Liyanage, Lavan Abhishek and Shanaka Udeesha performing with Nilash Neo and Seven Wings at Zouk Colombo, starting from 7.00pm.

Also on Saturday you can catch Wasthi, Nadeemal and Hana on stage with Ants and Yaka Crew at the Eka Bar in Narahenpita. It's part of the Avurudu Festival at Royal Arcade.

Looking ahead to next weekend and Vannakam Hiphop at the Viharahamadevi Open Air Theatre features four performers starting from 6.30pm.

EDM and there are two big ones this weekend. Deep Friday at Zouk on Friday night features extended sets by DJ Ultra and Noiyse Project, plus Dr Green and Ghost. This all starts at 8.00pm.

Then on Saturday, "Weekend Mix" features ten DJs at the new venue, The Taprobane on Cotta Road. This all night party starts at 6pm and ends at 6am.

Other Events

This Thursday, the Salsa Night is on as usual at Playtrix, with classes from 6pm to 9pm and then dancing.

Friday evening and you might want to head back to Playtrix as they will be hosting a Beer Pong Tournament and a ladies' night with free Somersby for ladies all night, both from 8.00pm onwards.

On Saturday, there's an Avurudu Festival for children at Crescat Boulevard. They will have games and activities suitable for kids under 10, starting from 3.00pm.

There's also an Easter Celebration for kids at Colombo City Centre on both Saturday and Sunday, from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Hosted by The Studio, they have games, activities, decorating eggs, an Easter Egg hunt and more, suitable for kids from 3 to 10 years of age.

And if you've ever wanted to see Colombo from above....not from the 20th or the 30th floor, but really from above...or if you've ever wanted to fly on a seaplane, taking off and landing on water... then this is your chance. On Sunday, from 3.00pm onwards, Cinnamon Air will be offering 15 minute scenic flights over Colombo departing from LaLa Land. For a charge of Rs12,000 you'll take off from the lake, fly over Colombo and return to the lake and LaLa Land.
