NGPC Round 3 Glen Helen, March 5-7. As most riders called it "The best layout so far". The track prep and design was one for the books and made for some incredibly tight racing amongst the top 5 from each of the pro classes. The pace set was another level and it showed who has been doing the work. Our team got some work done over the weekend. Mason Ottersberg moved up another spot in the championship and finished strong just one second off the podium. Ava Silvestri landed on the podium, as well as Caitlyn Kurtz exceptional 1st place in women's open A. Tyler Lynn would struggle to find his rhythm, but came out just outside the top 5 which is still something to be proud of as he keeps gaining valuable experience. |

MASON OTTERSBERG 4TH PRO 250 |
Ottersberg ran a hard fought race wire to wire bouncing between 3rd-4th. Putting in the fastest lap times against the rest of the field in the last couple closing laps, he tightened the gap on 3rd to just one second off at the finish behind Mateo. In his words: "So close yet so far. I fought hard to get on the box, but just didn't make it happen. The take away is that I am on the pace with the top guys in our class and I know I can win. There is not one thing I can do to my YZ 250FX that could make it any better, I am beyond happy with my set up and its all on me now to get it out front." |

Lynn got some more testing done this week and he thinks he is getting closer to his final settings. It is a bit of a culture shock coming into a stacked open pro class. Once he starts gaining his confidence, there is no doubt he will be a huge threat to this class. Finishing just outside the top 5 in 6th, he has a good foundation to build on the rest of the season. In his words: "Definitely not the weekend we was looking for this past weekend in Glen Helen. I started the race off really strongly, but just wasn't able to keep the pace of those top guys and fell off. I feel really well on the bike just working out some kinks and gonna keep building off the positives. Thanks to everyone that makes this possible!" |

Justin has been dominating the vet pro class all season, but he finally struck some bad luck with getting some debilitating arm pump which forced him to come in and adjust settings on his bike. He miscalculated the conditions of the track and went too stiff. He finished in 5th and lost his lead for the championship, but he is still in good shape to stay in it. In his words: "Race started off great and was able to get out front after the 2nd turn and lead for a lap in a half until unfortunately getting really tight and couldn’t hold on and dropped to 5th after pulling into the pits. Unfortunately I have lost the points lead, but we will work hard to be ready for the next round and hopefully get the points lead back" |

AVA SILVESTRI 3RD WOMEN'S PRO |
Silvestri is starting to find her flow. Every race she is getting more confident in the Yamaha and is showing potential to make some moves over the course of the season. Finishing consistently on the box every round, these are the things that will help her grow into a champion. In her words: "Another weekend of racing done and dusted out at Glen Helen. I usually don’t enjoy racing at Glen Helen since I don’t feel confident riding there, and on Saturday it was looking to be a typical Glen Helen weekend for me, just mailing in results and not really riding 100%, but on Sunday everything just clicked and I felt the best I ever have on a bike and I was having a lot of fun and flowing super well. Was able to come away with another 3rd place in the Woman’s Pro class. Can’t wait for Havasu!" |

CAITLYN KURTZ 1ST WOMEN'S A |
Kurtz struggled a bit on Saturday not getting the results she is used to, but forced herself to do extra races to get comfortable with the track so she would be ready for Sunday's race. She turned the weekend around dominating the class on Sunday with a 1st place. Every round is just another step forward for her. In her words: "Race report Round two of the NGPC series at Glen Helen was a tough weekend. Saturday’s race started off with a bad start and a long race. I pushed the best I could but I couldn’t find a flow and needed up 6th in the Women’s A class. I also decided to race the 250 B class later that day for some more seat time and had a great start and a solid ride finishing mid pack. Sunday’s race however did a full 180 from Saturday morning. I had an incredible start and was able to push the entire race holding on to 1st in the Women’s Four-stroke Open A class. Overall it was a fun weekend of learning and can’t wait to get back out for the next round!" |
