As one of the founders of the International Neuropalliative Care Society (INPCS), I am excited to announce that our first in-person INPCS meeting is happening this September 12-15th in Minneapolis.
INPCS was created around two central ideas. The first is that high-quality palliative care should be integrated into the care of people living with neurologic illnesses and their families. Second, is that we can only do this if we bring together people across disciplines (e.g. neurology, geriatrics, palliative care), roles (e.g. patients, family, nurse, physician, social worker, chaplain, researcher, administrators), nations, and illnesses to work with and learn from each other.
This is reflected in our theme for this year’s meeting: “Coming Together to Transform Care.” I invite you to check out our website to learn more about us and to consider registering for the meeting, which will include a pre-meeting workshop on self-advocacy and activism. |

A few other updates and reminders: I am working with Brooke Riesen to revamp my website (already looking better), social media, and outreach. You can connect with her on LinkedIn. The Cure For Bullshit podcast is now live and available on its own website as well as on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. I am sad to say that Janece Matsko will be leaving this project but happy to begin work with Iyad Amer who’s done video and audio production work for several Parkinson’s projects (e.g. ParkinsonTV and The Long Road To Hope) and will help dig into our backlog of completed interviews. The two-volume Handbook of Clinical Neurology dedicated to Neuropalliative Care is now published and available. I have been blogging (and intend to do more this year as other projects wrap up). If you are interested in getting not just the newsletter but emails for every blog you can now sign up for this notification option.
As always, if you’d like to support this work, please share my writing, website, and podcast with friends and strangers. I hope things are going well in your world and may Sincerely, Benzi |
