In the Jewish tradition, the term "rabbi" literally means "my teacher." And like the best teachers, we are also in the practice of being lifelong students. We are always looking at new ways of doing things-- looking to find the most effective ways to teach Torah, connect people, and do good in the world. 

So, it won't surprise you that the first week of every year, rabbis from PARR (the Pacific Association of Reform Rabbis) gather to check in, share best practices, and support one another's work. I have been asked to serve on a panel today to share the exciting work we are doing at Keeping It Sacred. I am honored to share our unique approach.

My colleagues will learn from our experimentation and all of the great organizing we have done in the virtual environment. I will tell them all about our ability to connect across space and time zones. About all of the ways we uplift international and intergenerational connections. About our quick-responsiveness to member-generated ideas. About our employment of new technologies for outreach and delivering content. About the mutually-enriching partnerships we have formed with many individuals and organizations. And, more!

Our approach is working: we ARE creating an accessible, relevant, and empowering community with meaningful ritual and learning experiences every week. And we are growing exponentially: we had more newsletter subscriptions in December than the previous two months combined. 

As our community expands, I am thrilled to share the best of our cutting-edge approach with my rabbinic colleagues in communities across the entire Pacific Region from Alaska to Australia to California and Hawaii.

Thank you for your ideas for a Healing Circle, an annual adult confirmation ceremony, the Rabbis of the Talmud classes, diving into Mussar, and your recommendations for readings for our social justice reading group. Thank you for your deep involvement and investment in this community. I am so proud that truly, it is together that we are #keepingitsacred... and that our findings will help others connect and grow.
