September 2021 - Newsletter

Hooray! September has arrived! Not that we don't love summer here at Gnome Road, but we know people have eagerly awaited the opening of our Little Gnome imprint to submissions this month. We look forward to reading your picture book stories!

If you visited the GRP website recently, then you know we have added a few people to the creative team. Last month we welcomed Chantelle and Burgen Thorne who will be illustrating Candace Spizzirri's FINLEY: MOOSE ON THE CABOOSE (releasing Fall 2022) and Catherine Ciocchi's WHAT'S THE MATTER AT THE BALLPARK? (releasing Spring 2023). We are also excited to announce our collaboration with illustrator Kevin Bell, who will be working on a middle-grade project called FINDING THE WAY HOME. And to round out the good news, illustrator Kate Talbot joins us to illustrate Mary Munson's LOVE WILL TURN YOU AROUND (releasing Winter 2023). We have a few more announcements coming soon, so continue to look on the GRP News tab and our Twitter feed for updates. 

What's Coming Up?  

We look forward to meeting and talking with authors and illustrators at two wonderful conferences this month. Look for us at the SCBWI Dakotas Regional Conference on September 18th, followed by the Children's Book Academy's Picture Book Palooza on September 19th. Make sure to say or wave "hello" in the chat box if you are there! 

With Little Gnome open to submissions, Timbers and friends will also be hard at work mining the query pile. Given the large number of submissions received during the last window, we have limited this one to the month of September only. Do not wait to send in your story if you want us to consider it for the Little Gnome imprint.
