Over the weekend of October 5th, 2019, we filmed the hybrid electric yacht underway and took measurements. Eventually, our marketing team will cut the footage for public use but because you are all early subscribers interested in the details, I am attaching the raw uncut footage HERE.
How far can you go on electric? How much power does the solar array provide? How much power does it use at X knots? Can all be answered by the video. In short, the solar array averages about 3kW and the yacht uses about 2kW. This provides a net balance of power allowing one to live 'of the grid'.
Two experienced yacht brokers were present for the trial and they were impressed. Very impressed. The feedback justified the hard work necessary for the conversion and accelerated our search for a dedicated location for power catamaran electric re-fits. Preparations are being made to reduce the 4.5 month conversion time for future builds.
Speaking of future builds, two yachts have been identified as the future flagship conversion by Nova Luxe. Our hope is to sell one to an owner that would allow Nova Luxe to lease the boat back to attend Yacht shows. With top speeds over 14 knots and cruising speed around 8, these blue water capable yachts would outperform the Solar Wave 55 and have fully redundant propulsion systems. See the information below.

Finally, for those interested as purchasing a yacht as an investment with plans to charter. We connect our buyers work with Anchor Rides an established charter company which helps with the proper tax planning.
